An engineering student from New England who enjoys art, but writes and draws in his spare time for fun, rather than as a life pursuit or career. A "decent amateur" when it comes to drawing, and a "skilled amateur" when it comes to writing. Always keen to know people's honest opinions of my work and things they think I could do to become better.
Mostly, I draw stuff in mechanical pencil. Most of it related to either my Warhammer 40k homebrew stuff, or my various original stories and settings I've never really developed outside my head.
Though I consider myself an amateur, I take immense pride in my artwork. What that means to me is not that I think my artwork is flawless and glorious and amazing and superior. What that means is that I cherish the process of art, and value the result this has on my, or any artist's, work.
The satisfaction and sheer authenticity that comes from knowing you have Created something and put every iota of care, imagination, aesthetics, and skill you had available into its creation. You know that your best work is not perfect; but it is still a monument to your imagination, a stepping stone to even better works.
It is another exhibit of the integrity of your artistic drive, and that is a thing you can feel rightly proud of.
